Machine Operator

Under the direction of the Lead, Supervisor or Manager is responsible for operating one or more production lines specific to the department assigned. Will be responsible to set up for production and ensure the products produced are within Mariani quality standards.

Operations

  • Sets up Assigned line for operation in allotted time.
  • Starts, stops, sets up, and cleans machinery according to operational requirements.
  • Performs daily line inspection and reports findings to Supervisor and Maintenance.
  • Follows up reports to ensure maintenance tasks are completed.
  • Oversees production run ensuring that specific customer specifications are meet.
       This includes fruit requirement
       Coding is properly located and in the proper format.
       Pallet tag and placard information matches product information.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of any issues with production run.
  • Keeps in contact with Maintenance crew of any repairs needing to be preformed.
  • Will learn to perform daily general maintenance of the equipment and surrounding equipment.
  • Track productivity of line including spillage, through put, yield and any other critical parameters.
  • Properly reports Downtime and materials used to Production Control.
  • Complete the Manufacturing Orders timely and accurately for the items produced.
  • Report productivity to supervisor on a regular basis.
  • May handle materials weighing up to 60 pounds occasionally.
  • Maintains correct product availability to line operations as directed.
  • May operate forklift on a limited basis and will not mishandle equipment in any manner.
  • Must ensure all Line staff is following proper production specifications.
  • Must be able to train as needed. This may mean travel to outside training sites.
  • Must be willing and able to train other operators on production.
  • Will follow all GMP’s daily.

Sanitation

  • Performs proper cleaning when changing product runs.
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly using common cleaning equipment.
  • Cleans up production area and elsewhere at end of shift as directed.

Safety

  • Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and safe work practices in assigned area, this includes following written procedures for safe handling and use of chemical compounds.
  • Must follow all label requirements when handling, storing or using chemicals.
  • Must be familiar with safe machine operations where machinery must be cleaned while running and follow lock out procedures.
  • Must wear proper PPE for the different tasks performed.

Requisite Skills/Qualifications

  • Must pass Mariani Forklift Certification program.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to work both day and or night shifts.
  • Understanding of production line is preferred.

R&D Technologist

Performs variety of duties relating to Research & Development/ Technical Services/ Quality Assurance. Utilize creativity and innovation to the existing product development process. May participate from time to time on management teams in the company in order to provide knowledge, information or direction as necessary on special projects. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications Preferred

  • Bachelor degree in Food Science & Technology or a related field preferred.
  • At least 2 to 4 years R&D experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food industry, and especially processed fruit.
  • Requires a well-organized individual that is self-motivated and takes charge, careful and thorough about detail in completing tasks as assigned.

Research & Development/ Vendor Compliance

  • Good analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills to improve processes.
  • Creates prototypes of new and improved products and keeps good records.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GMP’s, SSOP’s, Food safety, HACCP, USDA, FDA rules and regulations
  • Ability to manage projects i.e. R&D projects, lab work, product cuttings and shelf life studies.

  • Participates in development of ingredient specifications.

  • Participates in developing and carrying out sensory evaluations as needed. Make recommendations as necessary for corrective actions.

Utility Worker

nder direction of supervisor or lead, performs production area laboring jobs and keeps plant areas in a clean and orderly condition as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fills, stacks, moves or handles materials weighing more than 50 pounds frequently or continuously. Properly marks product or materials as directed.
  • Maintains correct product availability to line operations as directed.
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly using common cleaning equipment. Preps equipment for cleaning.
  • Operates cleaning equipment such as HPLV and scrub brushes.
  • Must be familiar with safe machine operations where machinery must be cleaned while running; familiar with lock out locations and procedures.
  • Cleans and maintains production area in proper sanitation condition during and at shift end.

Forklift Driver I
This position is responsible for safe Forklift operation in the Production Department work areas. Driver is responsible for supplying the assigned processing line with fruit, fiber and raw materials as necessary. Performs general tasks in the production areas involving set-up, operations and clean up. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Forklift Operator Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supplies Fruit and all raw materials to the assigned production line in a timely manner.
  • Returns any and all empty bins to the proper storage location.
  • Feeds fruit to the specified line making sure that quality meet specification.
  • Picks up pallets of case goods, supplies, etc. and transports them.
  • Collects and organizes the bin tags for proper reporting to production control.
  • Ensures bin tags are turned in to line operator by item produced.
  • Ensures that the floors are clean around the dumping areas on the production line assigned.
  • Maintains fuel, oil and water supply in forklift.
  • Provides relief for personnel as needed.
  • Maintains correct product availability to production line as directed.
  • Must be certified to operate a forklift. Picks up self-dumping hoppers, bins (full and empty), pallets of cased goods, packaging supplies, fruit, chemicals, and transports them.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to work regularly scheduled and unscheduled overtime including weekend if/when necessary to meet company goals.

Cadet
Responsible for working in all operations departments working with the department manager to learn the activities in each area including throughput, yield, product quality, GMP’s and food safety. The Cadet will be responsible to minimize downtime, both scheduled and unscheduled, to a level not to exceed a total of 5% within the department. Ensures that operators and staff receive the information they need to run their assigned line and are responsible for the proper collection and transaction of all data in order to maintain lot integrity and product traceability. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English and communicate same to assigned employees. Supervisor will ensure that Food Safety Measures are adhered to in all operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Production

  • Coordinates with the production scheduler about production requirements on a daily basis
  • Schedules personnel required to meet the standard manning of the lines, working with the scheduler to ensure accurate staffing usage and reporting.
  • Uses the proper fruit according to product specifications.
  • Ensures proper reporting of fruit used daily.
  • Determines from the schedule whether to use tubs or fiber boxes to collect the fruit. Ensures that tubs or fiber boxes are available
  • Instructs the operators for the day’s production requirements
  • Ensures that a sufficient number of employees are available to run the lines on a daily basis
  • Ensures that the sorting process is properly completed for defects or contaminants
  • Makes line speed and temperature adjustments based on Quality Control reports to ensure product quality is completed by operators
  • Monitors to ensure that all pallets or bins are tagged, weighed, and delivered to the appropriate destination
  • Ensures that a copy of each pallet or bin tag is accounted for to make accurate computer transactions
  • Supervises department employees to keep them on tasks assigned
  • Cross-trains machine operators and other employees to offer maximum flexibility. Trains department employees on new tasks. Trains a back-up for this position

IT Manager
The IT Manager will have company-wide responsibility for all network data systems, voice communication systems and personal computer systems. This includes, but is not limited to, all servers, gateways, firewalls, spam blockers, the phone system, voice and data lines, desktop personal computers and printers, laptops, tablets, company supplied phones and other portable devices. Responsible for planning, development, installation, maintenance and management of all network hardware and network software resources. Assume responsibility for ensuring that the network, the phone system and any network peripherals are available 24x7 to support our business environment. Primary contact for all issues relating to the above mentioned hardware and software. Work closely with the CIS Manager during the budgeting process to come up with the network hardware and software needs for the coming fiscal year. Manage network related project lifecycles to ensure that projects are done in a timely manner on budget. Hardware and software resource planning and controls, processes implementation and improvement; technical and professional coaching to meet specific business needs.

Assistant Lead – Bag Line
Under the direction of the Department Supervisor, is responsible for overseeing the production operations and sanitation of the Bag Line area. Individual will oversee all aspects of Bag Line production making sure product meets quality specifications, proper materials are used, manning for each line is correct and reporting is done on time and accurately. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be trained in the nature and properties of sanitation chemicals.

  • Keeps Bag Line Department clean and orderly using common cleaning equipment.
  • Ensures proper sanitation practices are being followed.
  • Ensures all production tools are stored properly.

Safety
