Here at Mariani, we like to think of dried fruit as nature's sweet treat. Dried fruit is deliciously easy to enjoy, a natural energy booster, and as a good source of essential vitamins, minerals and fiber, it’s a treat you can feel wonderful about.
Looking to increase your intake of dried fruit? It can be as simple as adding a handful to your morning oatmeal, mixing them into your yogurt, or just snacking on them during the day. They are convenient, portable, and a great way to satisfy your sweet cravings without reaching for overly processed sugary snacks.
One of our favorite ways to eat dried fruit (and one the whole family will enjoy!) is a recipe courtesy of the California Prune Board: Road Trip Trail Mix.
It couldn’t be easier to make. Roast about ¾ cup of raw almonds and ¾ cup of raw nuts in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes. Immediately toss with ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and ¼ teaspoon of fine sea salt, and stir well. Once the nuts are cool, add to a large ziploc bag with equal parts (all ½ cup!) of pistachios, sunflower seeds, dark chocolate-covered almonds, Mariani Prunes (quartered), and dark chocolate pieces. Finally, stir in ¼ cup Mariani dried cranberries and about ¼ cup diced golden figs. YUM!
