Just a snippet of the many, many posts about Date Bark!
Date Bark is a viral trend that is worth the hype! Nutrient dense ingredients (dates, dark chocolate and nuts) allow you to satisfy your sweet tooth with a treat that tastes just like a candy bar but without all the artificial additives… while loading up on fiber, healthy fats and antioxidants. Win-win-win!
Even better, making Date Bark is simple and oh-so-customizable.
Step 1: Line a cookie sheet with piece of wax or parchment paper
Step 2: Slice one side of the Mariani Dates lengthwise, leaving the other side connected so you can open and flatten the date out. Place on the baking sheet closely together creating a rectangle. Cover with another sheet of wax or parchment paper and use the bottom of a drinking glass to flatten and squash together.
Step 3: Cover the flattened dates with your favorite nut butter. Be sure to spread out evenly.
Step 4: Cover with melted dark chocolate (milk and semisweet work as well, but we love using dark chocolate for an antioxidant boost.)
Step 5: Sprinkle with your favorite chopped nuts (pistachio, peanuts, almonds, cashews, walnuts … the list goes on!) We like to use a roasted and lightly salted nut for a salty-sweet combination, but unsalted and raw nuts work too. Roasted coconut and chopped dried fruit also make delicious toppings.
Step 6: Freeze for 30 minutes.
Step 7: Cut the bark into squares and ENJOY.
Another candy alternative that is gaining popularity on social media are Snickers Stuffed Dates. Equally as easy to make, start by lining a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper. Slice each Mariani Date open lengthwise, pulling apart a bit to make room for stuffing. Stuff each date with peanut butter and top with roasted peanuts. Dip the stuffed date in melted dark chocolate and place on the baking sheet. Freeze for 30 minutes. Bite-size perfection!
