Ingredients

For the Cocktail
  • 2 oz Canadian Whiskey (Or zero proof option)
  • ¾ oz sweet vermouth (Or zero proof option)
  • 1 dash bitters
  • 1 Mariani California Prune
  • 1 Tablespoon prune syrup*
  • 2 large cocktail ice cubes
  • Cocktail toothpicks
  • *See recipe that follows
For the Prune Syrup
  • 12 Mariani California Dried Prunes
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 cardamom seed, whole
  • 1 pinch Kosher salt
  • 3 black peppercorns, whole

Instructions

For the Cocktail
  • Combine whiskey, vermouth, bitters, and prune syrup in cocktail shaker.
  • Shake/mix well.
  • Add ice to glass; pour 2-3 ounces of whiskey mixture over ice, garnish with macerated prune on a cocktail toothpick, stir and enjoy!
For the Prune Syrup
  • Combine ingredients in small sauce pan.
  • Bring to boil over medium heat, then drop to a simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and cover, allowing it to macerate for 5-10 minutes.
  • Transfer to storage container, cover and chill until ready to use.
