Prune-Sweetened Manhattan Cocktail
Ingredients
For the Cocktail
- 2 oz Canadian Whiskey (Or zero proof option)
- ¾ oz sweet vermouth (Or zero proof option)
- 1 dash bitters
- 1 Mariani California Prune
- 1 Tablespoon prune syrup*
- 2 large cocktail ice cubes
- Cocktail toothpicks

For the Prune Syrup
- 12 Mariani California Dried Prunes
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 cardamom seed, whole
- 1 pinch Kosher salt
- 3 black peppercorns, whole
Instructions
For the Cocktail
- Combine whiskey, vermouth, bitters, and prune syrup in cocktail shaker.
- Shake/mix well.
- Add ice to glass; pour 2-3 ounces of whiskey mixture over ice, garnish with macerated prune on a cocktail toothpick, stir and enjoy!
For the Prune Syrup
- Combine ingredients in small sauce pan.
- Bring to boil over medium heat, then drop to a simmer for 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from heat and cover, allowing it to macerate for 5-10 minutes.
- Transfer to storage container, cover and chill until ready to use.
