Dark Chocolate Avocado Mousse

One of our all time favs!  This amazingly healthy dessert is as creamy and satisfying as a traditional chocolate mousse.  All the flavor and none of the guilt!  Just the way we like it.

Dark Chocolate Avocado Mousse

Ingredients

  • 5 pitted Medjool dates - soaked in hot water (to soften)
  • 3 small avocados (ripe) or 2 larger avocados – peeled, pitted, and halved
  • ¼ c raw cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
  • ¼ c melted dark chocolate
  • ½ c unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne

Instructions

  • 1. Place dates in small bowl and cover with hot water. Let sit 5 minutes to soften. Remove and discard water.
  • 2. Next, place everything in a food processor. Pulse a few times to break everything down and then run the machine until everything is smooth. You may want to stop a few times and scrape down the sides of the machine.
  • 3. Pour into small cups or ramekins and refrigerate for 25 minutes or longer.
  • 4. Top with whipped cream (or whipped coconut cream) and chocolate shavings.
